if you were a vespa, what color would you be…in a hexadecimal code?
on a road trip, are most of your clothes in suitcase, a moving box, or a laundry basket?
describe your nearest “getaway spot.”
i suppose i couldn’t call it a “spot” really, but i love taking the bus around the city . whether i’m headed somewhere in particular or somewhere i haven’t met yet, i get lost dreaming out the window with my headphones on . it’s a marvelous deep breath & sigh in one swoop .
swim suit or skinny dip?
i want to write skinny dip, but who am i kidding. swim suit it is .
one place in the world where you haven’t been, but you MUST go.
the longest road trip you’ve taken … solo or with a road trip buddy?
calgary, ab to nebraska . serenaded by a tape deck in the back seat running on batteries . it didn’t make it the whole way .
when visiting a new city, what intangible items are you hoping to capture?
the feel of the air … the streets … stories held like treasures in all these unfamiliar spaces . & my own story unfolding through the place i’m in . so much observing to be had . notebook & pen in hand, always .
what is your favorite junk food when traveling?
cheetos & pepsi . & every single time i feel disgusting immediately afterward . plus i have orange fingers . doubly gross .
describe your favorite local hang-out.
posies . sweet posies .. pistachio greens + whites .. darlingly ornate china for my bagel . mismatched wooden chairs . & doors that swing wide open on warm days to let the street in . it’s my favorite spot to be lost in a book .
what inspires you to take the next step by photographing, writing, or composing a song about the area you’re in?
for me, the awe of a place takes over & i’m usually found meandering… getting lost… staring.. looking at the sky.. in a cafe scribbling . & then.. usually after i’ve left a place & am saturated with all these moments & images & conversations … the parts come together like a stew .
the songs are just the fruition of the saturating.
